Our new Class
Schedule brochures for classes thru August are due back from the printing company this week. The schedules
are now available on our web site, and we'll be mailing copies out to clients who don't receive our emails. Please let us know if you need some
additional copies for your office.
Now, on with our Tips & Tricks. I think these magical little techniques will amaze you!
Internet Explorer has an AutoComplete feature that provides a drop-down list for fields that you have entered before - like name, city, state,
phone number, etc. But what if you want to DELETE one of those entries? Maybe it's spelled wrong, or maybe you don't want the information to show
when others use the same computer. Just point your cursor on the entry in the drop-down list to highlight it, and hit the Delete key. Gone! Like
Magic!
Emails that you receive sometimes have subjects that don't describe the contents the way you'd prefer to file them. Did you know you could change
the subject name after you receive an email? Just open your copy of the email in a new window (double-click on the email in your Inbox). Then highlight
the subject and retype it or make whatever changes you'd like to it. If you want to reply to the email, you might want to reply first with the original
subject title before you change it, so the sender can recognize it. Then you can modify it so you can find it easier in your folders when you need
to refer back to it! When you close the email, you'll be prompted to save your changes.
In Excel spreadsheets, have you ever noticed that the format sometimes changes automatically to match the cell above it when you press Enter?
Suddenly, your cell turns bright yellow, bold and underlined. What's up with that?? Excel has a little-known feature called Extended Formats and
Formulas. If Excel thinks you're making a list, it will help you out by copying the formatting and formulas from the preceding row. It only works
if the same formats and formulas appear in at least 3 out of the 5 preceding rows. So if you want to say "thanks but no thanks for the help",
you can turn off this feature! Go to the Tools menu, click Options, then the Edit tab. Clear the checkbox for Extend list formats and formulas.
Frustrations solved - now you're back in control of your cell formats and formulas!
